This is an Apprenticeship Vacancy. The successful candidate will be employed by the company outlined below and receive on-the-job training from them. Alongside this, they will undertake an Apprenticeship Programme with ACT Training and receive support and guidance from an experienced Assessor, to help them achieve the relevant qualifications. Please refer to the Course Outline at the bottom of this page for an overview of the Apprenticeship Programme.

Apprenticeship Contract Length: 18 months

Hours of Work: 35 hours a week

Salary:  Apprentice wages £4.30 p.h. for first 12 months, NMW thereafter

Blue Door Nursery is a 'home from home' nursery based in Heath in Cardiff, where children are encouraged to play and eat together in mixed development groups, whilst at the same time ensuring they have plenty of opportunities to learn and develop in their peer groups.

We care for babies and children aged 6 months to 11 years across 2 sites.

Due to expansion, we are looking for an Apprentice to join our friendly and dynamic team. You will need to be willing to study for your CCLD Level 2 in Childcare working across both worksites.

Key Duties:  

The care and supervision of the children with regard to their physical, emotional and intellectual needs

Assisting the Nursery Nurse on planning and preparation of activities

Preparation, care, cleanliness and maintenance of the playrooms and equipment and any other nursery areas in the interests of health & safety.

Supervision of meals and mealtimes and where appropriate administrating babies milk feeds and prepare snacks and small meals for the children

Laundry duties.

Participating in regular parents' evenings, publicity, open weekends and children's outings.

Adhering to all Policies & Procedures and compliance with current childcare regulations.

Ensuring confidentiality is maintained in the nursery.

Maintaining development records and observations.

Any other duties appropriate to the post as directed by the Nursery Manager and Area Manager

Childcare experience (E)

Enhanced DBS check (E) - this will be funded by the employer if you are successful

Food Safety (D)

Child Protection (D)

Paediatric First Aid (D)

Manual Handling Training (D)
