This is an Apprenticeship Vacancy.  The successful candidate will be employed by the company outlined below and undertake the relevant Apprenticeship Programme with ACT Training.  Please refer to the Course Outline at the bottom of this page for an overview of the Apprenticeship Programme.

Hours of Work:  35 hours per week

Days and Times of Work:  Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm, with one hour lunch break.

Salary:  £11 000 pa

Contract Duration:  12 months 

Company Overview:  

The Welsh Rugby Union (“WRU”) are responsible for the running of Welsh rugby, including 320 member clubs, the Welsh national team and National Leagues and Cups. The WRU has a major role in the development of coaches, referees and players throughout all ages for both men and women. The WRU also own the home of Welsh rugby union, the 74,500 capacity Principality Stadium, Cardiff

This is an opportunity to undertake an apprenticeship within the Finance Department of one of the most recognizable brands in Wales. You will be part of the small team of finance staff based in the WRU’s offices at Principality Stadium. Your role will help support rugby in Wales: from the grassroots level, right up to the international teams.

Key Duties:  

  • Processing of invoices received: logging on system; matching to purchase orders; forwarding to budget holders for approval
  • Liaising with suppliers chasing outstanding invoices
  • Liaising with internal budget holders to ensure invoices are approved and paid on a timely basis
  • Assisting with monthly staff expenses processing and point of contact for staff queries on the electronic expenses system
  • Reconciling supplier statements on a monthly basis
  • Assisting with production of weekly payment runs, with an emphasis on accuracy
  • Assisting with management of Group’s purchase ledgers and processes such as month end, reviewing debit and old balances

Essential/Desirable Requirements:  

  • Strong interpersonal skills and relationship management
  • Experience working in a team
  • Excellent IT skills, specifically Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential

  • Ability to work to tight deadlines
  • Ability to prioritise key tasks
  • Excellent organisational skills
