The aim of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is to provide you with a basic level of accounting and finance skills that you can utilise in the workplace. You will develop skills in finance admin, double entry book keeping, basic costing principles and purchase, sales and general ledgers.
The programme prepares learners for roles such as:
• Accounts Assistant/Clerk
• Credit Control Clerk
• Finance Assistant
• Purchase / Sales Ledger Clerk
• Book Keeper
This programme is aimed at new financial members who want to gain skills in financial accounting within a Corporate financial team, Accountancy Practice or Public Sector organisation.
Blended delivery of self-directed study via the Mindful education system and shorter focused online lessons with your tutor via Microsoft Teams.
This video will provide you with an idea of what the system will look like; ‘in-class’ lessons are currently delivered via Microsoft teams.
There is a scheduled exam date for each unit.
Exams take place at ACT Cardiff
Elements of costing (ELCO)
Using accounting software (UACS)
Bookkeeping transactions (BTRN)
Bookkeeping controls (BKCL)
Working effectively in finance (WEIF) (assessed through a synoptic computer-based exam which does include the items from the previously assessed units above)
The recommended time to complete this programme is 10 months.
