Safeguarding of Vulnerable Adults (SOVA) Non-Accredited

Course Objective

The overall aim of SOVA is to increase understanding of the abuse of vulnerable adults and the action to take to prevent abuse. Learners will be able to; identify different forms of abuse and list possible signs and behaviour, learners will have a clarification of what actions to take in response to a disclosure of abuse being made.

Course Delivery

Delivery is a combination of PowerPoint presentation, videos and activities. Activities include a combination of reading, drawing and role play.

Key Topics

Key topics include;

  1. An explanation of what safeguarding is.
  2. The different types of abuse.
  3. Identifying the different signs and behaviours of each abuse.
  4. Legislation relating to safeguarding and the protection of vulnerable adults.
  5. Understanding what actions to take if you suspect abuse and how to document it.


Course Duration

SOVA is a day course and runs from 9:30 to 16:30
