ACT, Wales’ largest training provider, has been named as one of the UK’s top employers with its 59th placed ranking in the prestigious Sunday Times 100 Best Companies to Work for 2018 list. Plus, ACT is the only Welsh mid-size company to be listed.

At the same time, ACT has also secured a Best Companies 2 Star ‘outstanding’ accreditation for its commitment to workplace engagement.

Split into four categories, big companies, mid companies, small companies and not for profit organisations, the Best Companies to Work For list celebrates and showcases the very best in workplace engagement; it is the longest-running and most respected of its kind.

Commenting on the award win, Andrew Cooksley, Chief Executive Officer said: “Out of all of the award wins and accolades we have received, Best Companies is the one that means the most to me.

“Our work at ACT is to raise the esteem and promote the personal growth of thousands of learners every year. Our business depends on our ability to focus on the individual needs of each and every learner involved in the services we offer, and we can only do this through a widespread culture of communication and co-operation amongst staff who feel supported in the same way.

“The happiness and wellbeing of staff is hugely important to us and this reflects on the amazing service we deliver to over 6,500 people each year. I am tremendously proud that ACT has been recognised for caring as much for our passionate staff as well as those people we all work so hard to help through our training programmes.”

The Best Companies ranking was achieved following direct feedback provided by ACT employees focused around their manager and team, personal growth, wellbeing, giving something back, leadership, the company as a whole and fair deal for employees.

Some of the highlights of the feedback include 91% of staff agreed that their team is fun to work with and 87% agreed with the management style at ACT, which highlights how managers talk openly and honestly with staff.

As well as providing a positive environment to work, ACT rewards employees who help the company achieve their vision of making a positive difference to people’s lives. Colleagues are regularly nominated for external awards, taken on away days to celebrate their success and put forward for their internal ‘superstar member award’.

This is the fourth time ACT has achieved Best Companies status having made it on to the Best Companies to Work for list in 2015, 2014 and 2012.
