Wales’ leading training provider, ACT, proudly celebrate their Business Services Trainer, Louisa Mallett, as she is awarded ‘VQ Trainer of the Year 2019’.
Louisa was one of the cream of the crop recognised at the 2019 Vocational Qualifications (VQ) Awards, dubbed the ‘BAFTA’s’ of the VQ world. The ceremony, which took place on 15th May, was held at the historic National Museum in Cardiff.
Now in their 12th year, the coveted VQ Awards celebrate those who use technical, practical and vocational qualifications to achieve success. The award is a symbol of dedication towards a chosen profession. The awards help to celebrate those Welsh learners, trainers and employers who are already going that extra mile when it comes to developing vocational skills and qualifications.
This is the second time Louisa, 33, has collected an award for her services to work-based learning, having previously been named ‘Work-Based Learning Practitioner of the Year’ at the Apprenticeship Awards Cymru 2015.
Having worked for award-winning ACT since 2012, Louisa is a highly valued and respected team member. Over the past 7 years she has honed an incredible ability to build rapport with her learners and pick up on any underlying barriers they may be facing. A dedicated tutor, Louisa is passionate about the well-being of her learners and has created an online resource for them to access signposting learners to a variety of symptoms relating to stress and anxiety. She is also a keen advocate of embracing digital change in the classroom and has introduced Nearpods, an interactive classroom tool that develops literacy skills as well as allowing learners to go at their own pace.
Speaking on her VQ award, Louisa commented, “It means the world to win this award and be recognised for what I do. I’m supported so much by my team and ACT and so it’s lovely to be recognised by the wider work based learning sector too. I really love what I do and appreciate the trust that’s put in me to make my training sessions as fun and creative as possible. Well-being is a massive part of this and hope I can continue to not only help learners achieve their qualifications but work on their mental health too.”
