All qualifications are delivered over a 72 week period, where the learners attend their nearest ACT centre once a month for practical and theory sessions. Learners will also have work based visits once a month by their allocated assessor who will assess the learner in their salon. This Apprenticeship covers all the basics of hairdressing. As a Hairdressing apprentice, you’ll work as a salon junior, assisting senior staff while training as a junior stylist.

As an Apprentice your duties may include; booking appointments, greeting and consulting with customers, shampooing, conditioning, drying, styling and cutting hair, mixing and applying hair colouring and barbering. Learners will also cover topics such as; hair and skin testing, the effects of chemicals on hair and skin, and the principles of hair colour selection, creating and styling hair, promoting services and products, perming, or relaxing different types of hair.

As well as their apprenticeship in hairdressing, learners will also have the opportunity to complete their essential skills in communication and numeracy.

As well as improving my catering skills, ACT has really helped me with my confidence. I used to be so shy, but now my dream is to become a head chef in a big, busy kitchen.
