Apprenticeships

Foundation Apprenticeship (FA) is an employment based learning programme at Level 2. It follows a framework developed by the industry Sector Skills Council. It consists of a nationally recognised qualification (QCF), Essential Skills Wales and a vocationally related certificate. Each of the qualification elements are required for the completion of the framework.

Apprenticeship (A) is an employment based learning programme at Level 3. It follows a framework developed by the Sector Skills Council. It consists of a nationally recognised qualification (QCF) at Level 3, Essential Skills Wales and a vocationally related certificate. Each of the qualification elements are required for the completion of the framework.

ACT has a dedicated Schools Assist department which provides free professional training and development for Teaching Assistants, Childcare workers, carers and administration staff within schools. Schools Assist offer Foundation Apprenticeships, Apprenticeships and Flexible Learning in all these routes. 

Set up in 2005 in collaboration with ACT, Ysgol Hen Felin and the professional training units of Trinity Fields, two of the leading special needs schools in Wales. Schools Assist provide school based training across South East Wales. Working in partnership with Monmouth, Blaenau Gwent, Newport, Vale of Glamorgan local educational authorities and in particular Cardiff schools and lifelong learning service.
